| Customer Reviews: A REAL WORKOUT FOR REAL PEOPLE March 9, 2010 G. Bonica (Levittown, New York) I purchased this DVD about 2 1/2 weeks ago and I can already see the results. I am not one of those exercise obsessed people who can or want to work out every day. I use this DVD 4 times a week along with a moderate diet. It is easy to follow - no crazy moves that require me to re wind just to follow the routine. The three different work outs make it easy to stay engaged in the whole exercise regime. I have a tendency to become bored in a few days and Jillian has kept me motivated and engaged. It is short enough so that you don't dread working out and intense enough so that the 20 + minutes make a difference in a short time. This is a great video for someone who wants to get back in shape for the warm weather.
Good workout, wish had more variety March 8, 2010 KVictoria (Chicago, IL) I've done this DVD 3 times so far but I can't seem to do it two days in a row because of how SORE it makes me.... I guess that means it's doing it's job? It does get your heart rate up and Jillian is not nearly as annoying as a lot of the other trainers out there, so I'm happy with my purchase. I wish it had more than one workout per level, but once you're comfortable with the work-out you can put some music on to drown out all the dailogue so that you don't have to hear Jillian say the same things over and over again.
Quite the workout, but hard on the knees and wrists! March 7, 2010 Ellen B. (Panama City, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I would consider myself new to working out and to cardio especially. I have been doing mostly weight training for the last 6 months or so, and I realized I needed to do a lot more cardio if I wanted to lose more weight, so I gave this a go.
Very hard for beginners or overweight people. I had to stop and rest a number of times, and this was just on level one. Haven't even made it to level 2 yet. She relies on lots of jumpy movements (jumping jacks, jump squats, etc) and by the end of the workout on day 3, my knees and wrists needed a break. Very hard on the joints unless you have a very thick mat underneath.
If you don't have a problem with joints, this will certainly get you sweating!
Good workout, not great, Jillian on the other hand....... March 7, 2010 AJ (Midwest, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This workout is good, it's not great however. I am in good shape, workout 5-6 days a week and do cardio and weights.
Here's my problem with Jillian - she is way to full of herself and it is annoying, here's some examples:
As soon as level 1 starts, Jillian walks in with this "full of myself" attitude. Scripted of course; saying to the other 2 girls doing the workout with her, "so you think you can handle it huh, we'll see" - obnoxious.
Then she gets really full of herself when she says "I'm hoping you know me, (with a smug look on her face) I'm Jillian" - not needed, come on.
Shortly thereafter she says "if you want to look like this (as she is pointing to one of the girls) watch her, and you'll get there in no time......right.....ya, right" - are you kidding me, you are supposed to be encouraging people, not belittling them.
So, if you can get past her annoying attitude, it's an okay workout, but not as good as Beachbody.
Holy Crap March 6, 2010 M. A. Mudd (Acworth, GA USA) I have purchased quite a few dvds - trying to lose weight and tone up. Usually I can get through most of the workout before becoming tired. 5 minutes into this dvd, and I was breathing heavy. I know now not to try to warm up before hand (bike ride) because you will get all the warm up you need in the first 5 minutes. Wow..
